On July 5, Tianjin University held its commencement ceremony for graduate students in the gymnasium of Weijin Road Campus. A total of 636 students were awarded Ph.D. degrees and 3,723 master’s degrees. The event was attended by university leaders, faculty representatives, alumni, and family members.
President Jin Donghan encouraged students to have dreams and forge ahead as TJUers with their power of youth on their new journey of chasing dreams.
Kashan Khan from Pakistan, a doctoral student in the School of Civil Engineering, spoke as a representative of international students.After graduating with his doctorate, and facing over 30 job offers from countries like the UK, Canada, and China, Kashan chose to stay at Tianjin University for postdoctoral research, continuing his path in scientific research. He shared his story and experience at the ceremony.
Deng Chengman, a master's student from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, delivered a speech as a graduate representative and shared his story of study and research at Tianjin University.
Representative of alumni Zhang Laiyong, one of the first winners of "National Outstanding Engineer" and chief technology expert of China Huanqiu Contracting and Engineering Co., Ltd., shared his life insights on career choice, dedication, and happiness.
Liu Shuang from the School of Medicine delivered a speech as a faculty representative. In her speech, she encouraged students to be broad-minded, loving, and interesting people.
After the speeches, all faculty and students sang Tianjin University’s anthem together. Doctoral and master’s students were granted degrees.
